this kicks ass, orange. awesome. these are the moments when being an admin of this place is fun. a new world record for the use of curves in Quake 2 !! really smooth. great lighting. nice extras. only one texture is missing, ceil1_611.wal this is not a baseq2 texture, guess it's from rogue or xatrix. so it should be included in the zip, or it will be missing for many people.

wow. very nice map orange. aptly named too. I really like the crescent shaped stairways and the little step lights on every step.. very detailed, great showcase for the many cool looking things you can do with curvy brushes...

Quake 2 has no such a thing as curvy brushes, dervish. they are comprised by usual brushes. shape builder plugins of editors like Quark can compose structures which resemble curves, and with the addition of a lighting trick by the light compiler ( arghrad, which lights these fake curves in a way as if they were real curves .... an effect which is called phong shading ), the illusion is nearly perfect.

Congrats Orange. This must be one of the most beautiful maps I have seen in years. Now, I know why you was talking so much about curves earlier. And I was on my way to do another roundish map. Now I dont dare... Good work man. Wixen1

lol. I wasn't implying that the brushes themselves were curved... Just that they make up the curves... sry for the misunderstanding. this darn english language is always so touchy when it comes to describing things... (BTW I tend to make up adjectives on occasion.. watch out! I just love adding "y" and "ish" to any old word to try and describe something.) It's kinda like saying something is "Fishy". It might not have scales, or be able to breath under water, or swim in the sea, but you get the point that in some way it resembles something that is either related to or part of an actual fish. Unfortunately in this case "Curvy" is actually an english word. In this case, I'd probably use "Curved Brush" to describe an object that is shaped like a curve.. whereas I would call a brush that is part of a curved wall a "Curvy brush".. at least it's just piss poor english and not some difficult language like german.. otherwise we could lump all of the words in a phrase together and make big indecipherable strings of sounds.. we could call them a "stinkincurvedwallbrushthingamajig" but then we'd all be more confused. anyways, Thx for the info. I've never used Arghrad before... you know where I can DL?

;D well, actually I thought you are mistaking Quake 2's abilities with those of Quake 3. because Quake 3 has exactly this: brushes whose faces are described by bezier curves - curve brushes. the curves in Quake 3 are done in an entirely different fashion. since Q3 came out, people have tried to mimick those curves somehow in Quake 2, and tools have been made for this. arghrad is the default light compiler for Quark, but can be also found on other places. homepage is here: www.planetquake.com/arghrad/

I can see how that would have been a little confusing. I've never played Q3 though... Should I be sad? either way, thx for the link.
