Machinegun guards with chainguns? Enforcers with Railguns? Blaster Guards with BFGs? It's the end of the world as we know it. I mean, Strogg planet...
We all know that.
I'm the only C/C++ programmer here, I think..

Well...Maybe, you could create a mod including new monsters, guns etc. Also, new Single Player Missions and what not. If there was a mission where you had to secretly infiltrate thebase, gather intelligence, kill a specific Strogg etc. And exfiltrate, I would play. Also, I long for more of those...City maps, and not just those with backdrops, those ones where you can go anywhere.
