It's weird... I know all of these little tricks, but I can never get a map going enough to finish it... I'm too much of a perfectionist, you know what I mean?

I know what you mean Yun, but sometimes you have to let things go and move on. Maybe come back to them later on.
Grieve, I hope you don't mind, but I think I may use some of your foglab ideas. They are really cool and I think they will look great in my map.

n/p sure, that's why I've posted the foglab thing. you might have noticed that the volumetric light cones on the spotlights are something that have often been seen in Quake 2 maps. I made them the way Musashi did ( used also a modification of his own texture for this which I made blue ). This is in no way my idea. but the ground fog and the red death fog I see as my inventions. there was no single Quake 2 map I've seen where fog effects were done in this way. so use them, give me credit, and we're fine
