hey guys
does anyone know how to reduce the auto-open area function in the func_door_rotating ent for quake 2?
auto-open area : the space where as you walk up to the door it opens a certain distance away from the door

What I would do is use a trigger to activate the func_door_rotating. Then you can adjust the size of the brush to be closer to the door.

yes thats the only way i kno of, but i am trying to aviod doing that if i can... too many trigger ents.... i will if i must tho.
theres no spec/arg i can use to do this?

Those specific arguments are hard coded. However Q2 is open source so all you need to do is modify and compile an engine to suit your needs. Unless you are a programmer, this is easier said than done. DD

bat when you do that, you won't be able to play offline with other people, unless you're a good cracker, but that would be somehow cheating

Yea under GPU licence the engine would have to be made public. Its not so much a cheat as a hack. Nowadays most clients and servers are running modified versions of q2.exe anyways to take advantage of the open source. Everyone knows 3.20 is full of security issues and other problems. Personally I use R1CH's hacked q2.exe for my server, but I build my maps under 3.20 so they're compatable with all mods. I went through this scenerio a few years back when trying to change the default sounds of certain entities. It's more trouble than its worth
