ah, the "Slipknot" (Winamp) part actually changes depending on the song I have playing. but when I close Winamp, it continues to show what I listened to last... so that's why Slipknot is still there. I just haven't played anything else yet.

*shits all over Quark.
Use GTK Radiant. It's an even better version of what id themselves used to map. Quark is for people who want to look 1337 by being able to say:
"OmGz i can uze an editor with 145304834297 gazillion useless buttons, and a cluttered interface and a menu system that requires you to do like 1 bizillionz different things just to create a new map!!!1111one."
I will give Quark this, however: it does have real time Open GL lighting in the editor's 3D view, something I have always dreamed about in GTK Radiant. If I had the coding skills, I would take GTKR's source and code it in myself, but alas, I don't, so...
But yea, use GTK: it's fast, clean, and efficient, and it supports plugins, so you can do pretty much whatever you need to.

Oh dear, not the dreaded "this-editor-is-better-than-that-one-because-i-say-so-even-though-it's-really-just-an-individual's-own-preference-and-what-works-best-for-them" debate again.

I'm using like only half the buttons, Skeetz, but to my real advantage. I wish more Quark-using ppl would figure out how to tag faces and use the related functions, like linking/glueing faces together in which irregular angle they might ever stand to each other and therefore closing any micro-gap between faces. also the texture wrapping/projecting features from tagged faces, which makes it easy to say goodbye to misaligned textures. another powerful feature is the Quark explorer which lets you organize the map structure very efficient and makes it easy to make complex duplications of any part of the map. I use Quark because it rocks, and I don't even care for realtime OpenGL lighting, I use Quark 6.4.0

YOU CAN REMOVE TEH BUTTINZ DAT U DUN WNAT. -Paril A: I dont think you have ever told me that (if you have, please point out where) and B: I am willing to bet that with it's menu system, it would be hard to get rid of said buttons. Besides, the buttons aren't the only problem... for instance, I remeber once when i tried to use Quark, that the grid didn't have the same spacing on both axises, and that made it nigh impossible to get some brushes to match up correctly. Also, I don't know it's just me, but it seems that in Quark, just basic operations, such as as changing a brush's dimensions, are really slow. Those are just a few problems I have with the editor, among other things.

I dont know what are you talking all about. quark is the best editor! and ive checked them all! its NoT! slow all the buttons are recomendations not obligations (in other words you may choose not to use them) its really easy to make a new map all the axises are just fine. its just that people that are used to something find it hard to get used to something else.
same old story on every thing in life

When I said it is slow, i didn't mean like it lags, I mean, it feels like everything I need to do, includign the basics, take a very long time.
