I find it to be 1 fast map man onya for that, loved the rg in the guts - also think you could run quite a few players in that little gem to mate I liked it lots even with such a strong colour scheme ... but ( yep here we go) when are you guys gunna start making maps more with linux useage in mind, damn I hate it when there's butloads of upper case involved - there ya go I found fault great map, looking forward to the next treat from you

Look-around inspection: P1 . *** Built For The Kill ~ Built For The Kill (dj "Pan" bloot) \quake2\pandm8\ (D: ineligible) . pandm8.zip + This is one of the most original looks I've seen using original textures. Love it. + Railgun. 'Nuff said. + Cool layout. - Uhhhh, didn't see any really...but I think it was quiet in a lot of areas. Oh, what's with those gladiators in SP mode? I got a bit of a surprise by those Overall: A high ***/****

Hey thanks for the comments guys.
WHO? wrote: -"when are you guys gunna start making maps more with linux useage in mind, d**n I hate it when there's butloads of upper case involved..." erm... meaning?! the name of the .bsp in capitals or do you have problems running the map?
HLR wrote: -...but I think it was quiet in a lot of areas" Yeah I see what you mean but it's obvious that Bots are pretty much useless for playtesting, there's no 'being-chased-by-an-opponent'-feel you'd have with human players, there's no pressure. Bots just clutter when they spot each other, in this case in the central corridor near the armor, so as usual bot-play sucks.
It's by no means my best work so far but that is how it goes with a timelimit, but it was still fun to make. As I said in the readme I just wanted to show the RG-model and more or less based the rest of the 'theme' on it, that's how I got to the red/gray colors (it's less red than it seems, q2dm4 is red, these are just red accents but yes it's a strong color. As a whole the map didn't really benefit from the RG-model (au contraire) but it's just there for kicks. I started out with custom textures (speedy's, evil's, u8Poo's etc.) and the map would have looked completely different (probably better) than it does now, but it was a deliberate choice to go with standard. I found it good practice to be kind of limited in the options (i.e. texture choice.) Well 'twas fun and I wish all you mappers good luck with whatever you do. Oh and one last tip for some of the mappers here; learn how and when to use hintbrushes, it'll will be worth every minute you spend on it, especially now when maps become more complex. (There are tuts on the subject but perhaps if anyone is interested it I could write a basic and hopefully clear tutorial on hints someday.)
Adios for now, Pan.

Filenames in Linux are case-sensitive if I'm not mistaken. I think Q2 requests everything in lowercase. If so, it's an issue of having to go through and rename everything with uppercase in it so Q2 in Linux can find them. Good habit to use all lowercase for Q2 stuff anyway, because for one thing Q2 needs animated textures in lowercase otherwise it'll crash. Not sure if any other kinds of files matter.

Hey PAN g'day, ol mate here is on the right track from my experiences Filenames in Linux are case-sensitive if I'm not mistaken. I think Q2 requests everything in lowercase. Good habit to use all lowercase for Q2 stuff anyway, because for one thing Q2 needs animated textures in lowercase otherwise it'll crash. Not sure if any other kinds of files matter. I've also seen it where some maps are compiled with most of the files in mixed case & then you have a server force feeding gear to ppl using linux clients that are sitting there chugging away trying to make sense out of it all. When all's said n done I'd rather have a linux client 24/7 than a windows 1 running quake - oooh so much better game to play online to start with... I've known guys to rename maps/files & their kitchen sinks trying to get maps to load ... while the rest of the server plays that map with impunity Back to your map PAN ... I like it & I intend to run it up in a couple of our servers ... the FFA & TDM to start, so thank you for the map - colours strong but I dont find it overwhelming

Great texturing in this one. I really like the texturing and lighting. The thing that I think bothers almost everyone are the baseq2 textures. I think we've seen them already. The construction is also very good. The railgun is nicely modelled! I love it. GJ.
