James[Q2C]: I really enjoyed this map, it was small and too the point, great for a 1v1 or 2v2 game.
Dervish: This map, while not mind blowing, is consistently pretty all around, its smooth to move around and it seems to be suited to a variety of DM mods and playstyles. I'm in awe of spirit's ability to create believable and simple pipes that really add to the flavor of a map, and his ability to match texturing to brush architecture in general.
Spawn Girl: Fun map, cool conectivity, nice placement of ammo weapons and health. Would be cool with new textures, the combination of textures could be more esthetic.
Wixen1 [Q2C]: n/a
Mr. LemonyFresh: This map is very nice for it's purpose. For the most part it plays it safe with conventional quake style environment and layout, and in doing so, achieves a nice result. I would have liked to have seen something a little more original but on the other hand, it's hard to stray from the main stream quake style without repercussions to the quality and integrity of the map. The geometry is nice and neat and simple. I like the way that not too much resource has been put into making things look pretty. it seems a minimum has been worked to achieve an appropriate visually appealing outcome. I like that for the most part you've maintained a consistent colour scheme of red orange and yellow. good work.
Solid map. Fits the Q2 atmosphere and weapons load-out perfectly. Makes for fast and nasty battles against the bots.
Is this one completely finished as is Spirit? I ask that intending no offense and I hope you don't take any. But this one seems to be lacking some of the usual polish (details and such) that you usually put on your maps.
I seem to recall reading that you were time stressed?
Hehe, yeah. I built it in 5 days and I could have added lots of details.
What's more important is that I'm not very happy with the lighting contrast: the MG/YA area is too dark compared to the other parts of the map. I'm a bit astonished that nobody complained about that yet.
A minor thing is that all stair textures suck. The JPs could also use some polishing -- I did those last, right before I had to submit the map.
If jdolan wants it for quake2world, I may release an improved q2w version sometime. The q2 version will stay the way it is now. For the time I used to make it I'm very happy with it and I'd like to move on.
Damn Tim, this looks great I'm going to have to fire up AprQ2 tonight and have a run on it. Have you tried dropping it into Q2W yet to see how Q2W's physics treat it? If high-res textures are available (and it looks like baseq2 to me, so that'd be a "yes"), then I'd love to see this ported to Q2W.
