Crashed doing what? Running what map, etc? I need more info.
Were you running a previous build OK before you upgraded to this one?
Did you try to load a save game from the previous version with this one and got an error? That won't work because the game DLL was recompiled.
BTW, I did a quick stealth update last night to add null termination to the string expansion (minor potential issue). I tested it and nothing was affected.

well, here is what I encountered with kmq2 on win 7 64 bit .... basically it runs, baseq2 SP and DM work well, botsupport for 3zb2 bot also. the problem are the the missionpacks. zaero works for some reasons, but rogue and xatrix don't. whenever I start them, it plays the cinematics, but then crash and freeze when the first map is loaded. the OS reports that kmq2 does not work anymore and should be closed. well .... I've tried it with an older version of kmq2, but also with the latest one from your homepage. it shows similar behaviour. the bug might be in the rogue/xatrix game dll's. hope these problems get fixed .... all in all, kmquake2 is the best sourceport out there ...

I just did a good bit of testing on Win7 64-bit with the just-released 0.20 update and the 0.20b3 mission pack support DLL running Ground Zero and The Reckoning, and I couldn't get it to crash a single time when starting the game. Check the file's Properties->Details tab on the kmq2gamex86.dll in your rogue and xatrix folders. Is it the one from 3/7/2008, version 0.9.7.4? If it's older, it's probably the 0.9.6.0 version for 0.19 dated 8/10/2005, which is incompatible with 0.20. Starting the game with a DLL for 0.19 would definitely cause a crash. Make sure you're using this version of the missionpack support DLL. I just re-uploaded it in the off chance that the version on the server had been corrupted.

By "install", I hope you didn't just copy the new kmquake2.exe into your Quake2 folder. You need the files that go under baseq2 as well.
If the old version of KMQ2 was 0.19 or earlier, delete your old kmq2config.cfg file(s), and the kmq2gamex86.dll files in any mod folders. The DLLs made for 0.19 and earlier will just crash with 0.20.
Then download the Zaero and mission pack support files from the KMQ2 site, installing to Zaero, Rogue and Xatrix folders, respectively.
Once you replace a game DLL, saves won't work either. You'll need to delete them too.

Do you have Q2 installed in C:\Program Files (x86)? That's probably what would trigger the administrator requirement.

There's no config setting for protocol that stays, as it gets forced back to KMQ2 protocol on playing cinematics (idlog.cin). You need to add
+set cl_servertrick 1
to the command line when joining a server that way.
If the maps on a server have missing textures when 24-bit downloading is disabled, then leave it enabled. It will take longer, but it won't try the same files over and over.
