This is a know issue. On rare occasions it happens because your texture directory contains a texture with a restricted character that throws off Map Mixer, mainly the "at" sign "@" To work around it, do a search for texture file names in your quake2 directory containing @, example: @oltar5.wal in textures\mafia folder, and rename them to something like _oltar5.wal. Then delete your Map Mixer's cache folder and restart the app.
It's rare but it happens if you have 50 000 textures like me. I recently ran into it when adding a whole lot of Dday maps ;-) Alternatively if you don't want to regenerate every thumbnail from scratch by deleting the cache, you can manually rename the thumbnail in the cache folder like so: mafia#@oltar5@128x128 to mafia#_oltar5@128x128 It's something I meant to fix, but currently Map Mixer uses @ character for file name parsing, and when it finds two @ signs in a thumbnail it causes it to freeze. ;-(

Well Thank you again Null for that work around I think I found all them textures with @ in them. I next thing that stops me is that I load a map to over ride and click on view thumbnail Dir I find a texture to change and now see this File needs to be in dir e:\MapMixer2\cache\ ok I know the cache files are there so why now do I have this error?
