My first map review is from a young mapper named Genie (genie@tukikohta.net)
His map is named "Have you been on the other side?"
Map name [glow=red,2,300]"Other"[/glow]

He created this map with Worldcraft 1.6, ArghRad & SoundForge 7.0
and took about 4 months to build.
Now on to the map review....
First thing I noticed when I spawned in the map is this really cool jet
that flies overhead, very cool. I tried to shoot it, but couldn't bring it down.
O.K. This map has some really cool bird sounds, kind of feels like your
in the woods, until someone rails you and spoils the happy times.
Lot's of cool items in it, like fans, floating crates and
this really cool water slide. Please remember to wear your life vest.
It's very large and wide open which allows 12 players to be in the map
at one time with no problem.
The lighting is pretty good and the manual terrain must have taken
Genie a lot of time to create. You may want to try Nem's 3D Terrain Generator in
the future. A lot easier.
A very nice touch in this map is the bridge with the chain link bottom.
Looks really good!
It was created especially for the Q2 MOD Action Quake, which I've
never played, but it seems to work just fine in regular Death Match.
I located every weapon, except for the Super Shotgun and they
were spread out nicely throughout the map, along with the health.
The map has a missing texture (xlight5.wal) and sinking the spawn pads would
clean up the map a little. You will also see some distance
clipping in the corners, but it doesn't affect game play.
I think Genie has a lot of talent and I can't wait to see what he
creates in the future. Hopefully a regular Death Match map. he he
So download his map koti.mbnet.fi/darknes/AQ2/other.zip and check it out!
With the age of this mapper and the effort put into the map
I give it a [shadow=red,left,300]7 out of 10[/shadow] score.
Good job Genie!
