Anyone have some around that change the color of the top open part of the railgun from red to other colors? Most notably I loved the blue version of the railgun in the Nintendo 64 version of Quake 2. I tried doing so myself in the past but could never get the color blue to look very good due to palette when converting, but if anyone has a semi decent blue version that works with regular R1Q2 (I only use vanilla rendering, so no high res or true color skins), and any others as well I'd love to have them, thanks! www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9myqLvOtfk&index=19&list=PLE0E1E045A92D1250 (jump to 35 seconds to see an example, I know a rich blue of that color isn't quite possible in vanilla rendering, but it's an example of what I'm roughly looking for)

The blue palette is limited so you cant get the exact blue hue, and must rely on pixel pattern to fool the eye. Here's a blue rail I came up with, plus 3 other blue versions in case you find those better: www.sendspace.com/file/u6f0ssJust rename skin0-skin3 to skin to try the others.

Thanks nuil! The first one seems spot on to me, as well as the second one which looks almost identical, as good looking of a blue railgun as I could expect of the Quake 2 palette! Just needs a matching pickup model skin and it's perfect and many others should like it too! I can feel the Quake 2 N64 nostalgia already =^.^=!
Sounds interesting Crypt! Hope you all have the best of success on it, Quake 2 deserves as much attention as it can get both directly and indirectly! Like some say, it's possible there can be a great revival if enough people learn of it and long to experience when games were much more true to their purpose of fun that lasts for ages!

Crypt feel free to join forces with us. We'd love to see creative like minded individuals producing Q2 HD movies on YouTube. There's no better advertisement these days, and you should be able to generate plenty of interest for Q2 and the Mapping Community. If everyone chips in, we can do amazing things. I recommend using Fraps 99, to create 1080p vids. Ask Kits here, he's got plenty of experience uploading Q2 vids to YouTube. The hard part is properly tagging, listing and advertising them, to get max views. The good thing is, you can embed videos right here on this forum: leray.proboards.com/thread/3726/quake-youtube-action-packed-videos Also check out this tread: Recording Quake 2 gameplay in HD (for youtube) leray.proboards.com/thread/3603/recording-quake-gameplay-hd-youtube
