Hey folks, I've been playing around with J.A.C.K. and have made a couple of interesting projects with it for the Railwarz (and, heck, CTF community) that I'll share later. My problem right now is, JACK (v1.1064) has stopped showing me textures in the 3D view! It's making it very difficult to work with it (and align textures!) Has anyone else encountered this? The really odd thing is that SOMETIMES I run JACK and open a project and all the textures appear and it looks just fine. A day later, same machine, same files, same configuration, same map, presto, JACK shows no textures (opening other, known good projects results in the same thing.) No idea for now, i will take a look. But it is strange, if it were missing the textures they would appear as pink and black squares, and if it were that you used accidentally the option for showing 3D filled polygons they would be shown in different colours.
For now, could you post here the log? On the Windows>>>>Messages Tab
Also check Map>>>check for problems Tab, just in case.

Sorry, but checked all around and couldn't get to it. Also, your log looks quite clean. The models not showing is probably a small bug or some error in your configuration, but those missing models should be in the places it says. The only thing that ticks me off is that you have a slightly different and newer build. So you are using one for Linux or maybe you got the latest one there was at the time and not the latest stable one, and that one comes with some minor bugs. Download the latest stable from the page and install it over and see what happens. If that doesn't help you, just go to www.celephais.net/board/view_thread.php?id=61338 and ask there for help. XaeroX tends to read it so he'll answer fast. |

I will give it a try. It's very strange.. Sometimes I open JACK and everything's fine and I work with it, edit maps, 3d view is all nicely textured, etc. I can close it and open a different map and it's all good. Then, a few hours later, I'll open one of the same maps, and nope.. no textures. I've got 24 gigs of RAM, so I don't think it's a resource problem...
I wasn't aware I was on any special build. I downloaded it from their normal public site when I heard about JACK and got the bug to get into mapping again.. I'll re-download and reinstall and see what happens.
Thanks for looking at this and for the link to that other board! I know the JACK team is trying to monetize the project and now selling an updated/commercialized version via Steam, so I'm sure they have people who've bought that version to support as well.. As such, I'd rather not bother them if I can avoid it...

Don't worry, he said he will release later a new free version too, with no Steam features, but he is focusing on the Steam one now, obviously. You can ask for help with no worries on that link (no need even to create an account to post), many of us have done that after he released the Steam only version, and also, there is always the possibility that what you are reporting haven't been fixed in the Steam only version so it can be that with that you are helping them.  |
