I finally just finished this unit. Great work overall, Quakeulf!
As in your previous unit, I loved the geometric detail put into the maps, particularly the retro Q1-ish Underground Monastery. It's nice to see the potential added from relatively recent engine optimizations and modern hardware taken advantage of somewhat.
However, it was unnecessary to use a bunch of func_walls for those Q1-style torches/flames. The model_spawn entity in Lazarus/KMQ2 supports animating any md2/md3 model, and there just happens to be a suitable, unused flame model (models/objects/fire/tris.md2) in the Rogue pak0.pak.
I did get confused a couple of times on where to go next, particular after returning to the Nexus Relay from the Slipgate Research map. It turned out that the switch that I need to press to use the key I got was upstairs nestled among some crates.
The body armor in the Flesh Temple map was frustrating to get. It turned out that I had to go into a hidey hole under a ramp to unlock it, and it didn't count as a secret. That said, I did find the "20th anniversary secret", as it opened after finishing that map. That red room was particularity brutal!
So, I very much enjoyed this. Would you happen to have any future Q2 projects planned?
