Would you happen to have any future Q2 projects planned? Yes, I just posted a new map called "Outer Outer Base". Also I have released a few fixes to this unit since its first iteration, including a new secret map, and better routing. ;w;

Greetenings. I have returned with another Quake 2 singleplayer map called "Outer Outer Base" which refers to a base even further out from the Makron's city as Outer Base is. It's a standard vaniller 100-Strogg strong map with a few secrets and a secret that will make the ending a lot easier to handle. ;w; Screenshots included in these Twitter-posts: The direct download URL resides here: quakeulf.suxos.org/3d/maps/oobase.zip

Cocerello:
Thank you for your feedback! I know I should have done more with skillchoices etc., but this was my first Quake 2-singleplayer unit and I would have spent a lot of time figuring out how to do it and how to balance it...
I agree with most of the feedback, but it was a learning process, but again, even with my newest unit, there are still things I did not get the time for to tweak, unfortunately. I prefer to just place brushes, the rest can be a chore as it takes a long time to do and it needs to be done really well.

Que the fan-theories!
My theory is that Quake 2 is the prequel to Quake.
Quake shows humans having a very developed portal technology that has been able to connect to a different world, which is now trying to use the portals to take over our world.
Quake 2 has the beginning stages of a portal technology that has been developed and used by the Strogg to teleport attacks to earth.
What happened at the end of Quake 2 was that humans got their hands on the portal technology and took it with them back to earth.
What happened after the developments of the portal technology at earth led to Quake.

You know, you can put those .map files into a 7-Zip archive and make them 90% or more smaller, as they're text files. It's what I do for all of my source code archives. I am aware. I've looked extensively into the file-format recently. :3c But I have space, and it's not like it's going to attract a lot of traffic or anything.

Greetings again, I've just put the source .MAP-files on my websight so you can download them and have a look at how I did it: quakeulf.suxos.org/3d/maps/They're called olde1, 2 and 3.

Sticking to a palette is good for period correctness regardless of renderer. Or maybe it's just good, period? Besides a retro look, discipline to limited colors can make environments feel more connected and consistent between textures and maps. Much related palette theory is to be found for movies and art. To generate a colormap.pcx for purposes of a software renderer- or just to see the interactions- Write a script as below, call it 'palette.qdt' let's say, and run it with the tool 'qdata'. It will use the palette data from an 8-bit pcx image. $load base/pics/pal.pcx $colormap colormap Yet many vocal people still "hate" on Quake's limited palette. I do agree 6000000% that colour coding (or a palette) environments is important for a consistent look.

The same place you downloaded it from before (KMQ2 site or the first post in this thread). The file has been updated. Phew. Thanks man. Will try immediately.

Where can I get the new'st version of 3.24 from? The topic hasn't been updated in a few years.
As mentioned elsewhere I have this problem where the player clip is not working in base2 so you can skip base3.
