TY...and...YW! There is plenty of room to run around in there too. Should be great for hook-fans as well.

Something went wrong on my setup. I think that some of the files did not load. I mean, the map works fine, but the textures do not show up. The weapons look normal. Am I unzipping the file wrong? Pity, cuz it looks like a cool setup!

Did you unzip to the baseq2 folder?

Yep! I can get it to play, but nothing is colored, except the weapons. Actually, the floors are yellow/black, but that's all the colors. No textures or anything.

umm...LMAO! That is probably it! There are only 3 textures in the zip file. The colors should be orange with black trim and the third texture is a transparent texture so if you see it, then something is definitely wrong. It's supposed to be abstract...less focus on textures and more on style, architecture and gameplay. Take a screen and post it here...it should resemble the one I have in the original thread here.

;D ;D ;D Allright!!!! I see now!! I'm sorry, I think this is the first time I have seen something like this. Clever! That is a real good way for people to pay attention to the actual layout! The animated arrow pointers are a nice touch too. The jump pads seem to spin me around very quickly, but it's a neat way to get you around the map quickly. I'll have to check this map out furthur....

Panzer, how did you make the teleporter arrows that move in and out? Is that animated textures? Looks really cool

Believe it or not...I got the idea from you...more or less. Your interest in making the crates float forced me to investigate how to make the func_train work so I decided...since Q2 sucks for animating textures, why not make it animate some simple flat textured brushes in the directions I wanted them to move? Results = that abstract look in there. The weapon pads are actually 8 diamond shaped brushes that all meet in the center. The entire brush was textured black with the top/center of the brush textured orange to appear to blend in with the platform as if it were hollow. That is the beauty of using only the 2 textures. The entire 8-brush set was turned into a func_rotate and set to a speed of 100. Now for the other arrows that move in four directions...those are 4 different black triangles each with their own func_train. There are about 40 path_corners for 20 func_trains in the map making all the parts move back and forth...up and down...I had a lot of fun with the idea and plan to use it extensively again in my next map. Hope that clarifies how they work.

Do you add a thin clip brush over these arrows so they don't interfere with game play?

No...made them all one unit thick and applied mist to the brushes. If you play with someone else and they stand where the brush moves, you can see it run through their feet...another cool thing is if you throw a grenade in the weapon pads...you can't see the grenade sitting there...but...KA-BOOM! ;D
