www.clan4u2.com/downloads/4u2map15.zipIt's a Halo inspired map, so that was the look I was going for. There is a custom high-color texture pak out there that really makes the map look nice, so if you're a high-speed kinda person, dl that as well. I know I have a link to the textures somewhere, just gotta find it. No matter, the map works just fine without them. I guess you can provide me with feedback, but it's not why I'm posting it. I simply want to make it available to those who still play Q2 DM. Have a good one.

great map, near pefect. really clean look, great connectivity, lots of nice jumps. and I am still stunned by the closeup-quality of these high res textures. they are not only high color, but the wall textures have a size of 512x512. I expected to find a shader file within the pak that tells the renderer how to scale them, but found none. someone has to tell a noob (me) how this works that the renderer knows the right scale for the textures. the other thing that stunned me was that I got no performance impact at all. it remained perfectly playable on my small rig (Duron 800, GeForce2 32 MB, 256 MB Ram), I didn't even had to stop winamp and Emule. I don't use the complete NoCheat port when playing locally, my standard Quake 2 executable is the 3DNow! - optimized 3.20 exe that was made by AMD back in 1999. Runs fastest of all and is perfectly stable (other than some 3.21 ports). I usually combine that with an updated gl renderer like ref_q2cpgl_dll or ref_ncgl.dll (which belongs to noCheat ) Switching to the NCGL renderer with the console was enough and sufficient to see the textures in their full glory. absolutely great. mappers should start to take these possibilities into consideration, i'd say.

Feel free to use it as you wish. Why make a map if you don't share it, right? In fact, you can use any and all of my maps, which can be found at www.clan4u2.com. Forgive my lack of updating to the webspace. I don't think I have 14 or 15 linked there yet. If there's something missing, maybe check our messageboard. Glad you guys like it--that's why I make maps!

Well, just for you guys (and I guess for the rest of the www), I updated the maps section of the good ol' [4u2] website. So now you can find the whole 4u2 series with ease. FYI, the last 2 maps on that page are from [4u2]Geikram (in case you wondering why they had a different naming system).

maybe. Heh, everytime I either release a map just before the announcement, or just after the deadline. I don't go at it like I used to.
