Ok, how many of us remember the old "old days" of computer gaming? I'm referring to text based adventure style games for DOS and older... I remember playing a few really fun and simple games, like "Zork" (and sequels), "The Hobbit", and "HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy" I loved how immersed you could be in such a simple game. For the time, these games were the pinnacle of immersive gameplay, putting you into a new richly described world that you could move around and interact with. They gave life to the modern RPG genre and even the MMORPG. I played others that ,while slightly more recently made, were still very ancient and showed very early graphics including the creative use of ASCII characters and rudimentary lines and shapes. The one I remember the clearest was called "Caste Adventure". here's a link to a page with the game for DL and some reviews. www.abandonia.com/games/en/226/Castle.htmHave fun trying to find a computer slow enough to run it!

dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1did you try DosBox ? this creates a environment for the DOS games to run. works really well in general. and it slows down your system for sure. incredible how slow it runs !! fast sys required.

I have a game called Beyond Zork. It was fun until it got ridiculous. It was like Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Some of the puzzles were unsolvable. Other than that, it was a great game . And by the way, I got Beyond Zork in an infocom cd with Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy and a couple other games.
