I finally got to try this game last evening, and you know what? I couldn't stop, this game is awesome! I don't care much about the looks of games, I enjoy games for how fun they are, not their beauty (which I find very lacking in the fps gaming business for the last few years). But beauty is of course well accepted but it should always come in second place, after gameplay Anywho! Quake 4 contains a good storyboard, good fragging and beauty Though the vehicles aren't very fun! What I especially like in q4 is that by time you just don't get better guns, but your guns get better. Also there are some strogg characters from q2 with just a little upgrade. Haven't finished it yet but I'm excited to see what this game has to offer! I haven't played it in multiplayer, but I've heard it's pretty diffrent from the sp game, more like q3, which is just awesome

Well I'm going to have to be Mr.negative My first impressions of Quake 4 were wow good graphics and ok game play... after getting through the vehicle levels it got too damn repetitive, the same thing over and over (like doom3) i really think they over did the metallic theme a bit. The mp is really bad imo.. the stock levels looked horrible and again, too much metal omg Now we know what happened to the worlds metal supplies Anyway! I think Quake2 still and always will be, better than anything that comes out in the future. Nothing beats its physics and leet Jester maps

yeah ... a statement like "Quake II is dying fast" is ridiculous. if your memory is going back at least 2 month you will recall that we had a mapping contest here in the Cafe. with a participation and contributions which do not really apply to a nearly dead game in terms of quantity and quality.

As I said, I haven't tried MP yet and I haven't finished the vehicle levels either! My impression is good and I stick with it untill I get bored of the game!

I think Quake2 still and always will be, better than anything that comes out in the future. Nothing beats its physics and leet Jester maps yes, the physics, but also the graphics which look like nothing else (deeper and more satisfying than from newer games, can't explain), the general atmosphere and the feeling. the only bad thing with Q2 are indeed the engine limitations, this sucks. compared with newer games, you have to make your maps with nearly nothing, r_speeds which shouldn't be much higher than 1000 is a joke. In Q3 "not much more than 7000" is recommended, in Q4 and other nowadays games it's somewhere in the 100.000's region .... making maps with "nearly nothing" is quite challenging though.

It may be still alive, but I am telling the honest truth when I say it's on one of it's smallest threads. There are like no players nowadays.. atleast not like there was back in my day of WoD..
.wal was pretty much the only way to go, they wanted everything to be original. They changed their minds quickly, eh?

I still think this is a serious situation! If we don't do something, Quake 2 will die out and we won't be able to enjoy ourselves as much! Come on people! We are the Q2C (Mostly aimed at those in [Q2C]! We must do something to keep Q2 alive!
