I just found a (another) Q2 glitch. I noticed that one of my brushes had a small spike coming out of it, and at first I thought the brush wasn't fully aligned. Then, I thought it was due to a nearby hint brush. Nope. I finally realized that it was due to being close to the map origin. Somehow Q2 pulled a small section out and it even had the correct texture on the section. I just thought I'd let you guys know about this so you can go check to see what you have close to the origin and see if anything similar has happened. When I started making the map, I tried to follow the rule(s) where Q2 splits up brushes at ceratain intervals, but when I tested it, it didn't seem to do it quite like the web site said. Does anyone know exactly how Q2 does split up the map into polygons? Here is the overhead view in the map: Here is the overhead view in the map editor:

I would not discount that it may be the origin brush proximity that is causing it but that sure looks like the odd errors that are usually caused by a concave brush. Check and see if you get any bad float plane errors.

Awesome - I just went through this last night as a matter of fact I jump in and out of the map in quick-go or fast vis... to see how I am doing.... everything looked fine. but after running a full compile the same issue that DJ made happened to me - and - it was very near the origin. I never thought that the origin would effect anything like that - never would of crossed my mind in say 740 years give or take a week. Anyway I wen to the spot where that "thing" showed up.... pulled every polly back a ways... went back in to the map.... and it was gone.... placed everything nice and neatly back to where they belonged.... full compile.... and that "thing" was gone.... keeping everything near the origin like it was ment to be. So ... IMA Thinking Mr. Maric is absolutely on something....uh... hehehe just kidding... I ment "On to something"... I agree... cuz after pollies wants a cracker was all placed back nice and neat.... no more "thing" which aslo had the right texture.. if that is possible having the "right texture" even if it doesnt belong there. WhaaaAHoo...and as the Great Le RAy himself has been know to say.... "Thank you for Understanding"

Interesting. That brush is a triangular piece (6 vertexes) and I've never changed the top or bottom to be different from one another. Also, I tried re-aligning all 3 edge points as well as the top and bottom. Also, it's an original brush, so it wasn't copied and pasted. Also, it was never rotated. I guess what I'm getting at is if it was due to a misaligned brush, then what the hell is Quark doing because as far as I know, I didn't do anything wrong. I mean, you never know, maybe it was the loose screw in the driver, but it's so much easier to blame Quark. LOL Well, anyway, I moved a bunch of stuff and the problem went away, but later on, I'm going to have something else close to the origin. I guess we'll see if it comes back. If so, I'll try deleting whatever has the problem and re-creating the brush from scratch. Thanks for the info. DJ
