Well I start my first adventure into quake 2 mapping,being a previous counter-strike mapper I learned to map q2 rather quickly.I had just started my first q2 map yesterday and ran into a very annoying and odd problem.It must have been something I did but cant figure out.What happens is when I go to do a simple quick compile of the map it compiles without error but q2 freezes when it try to load the map.Oddly I had run a few quick compiles before without problem,then after a bit more building it started. I have checked in worldcraft to search for problems which none could be found,also tried this program called mapspy which found a few minor errors but nothing that points toward the freeze up. Here are the runtime errors mapspy found if they help: There is no 'nextmap' value in worldspawn. It's good practice to always include a nextmap value, particularly for DM maps but even for SP maps (you can't be certain how your map will be used) If the fraglimit or timelimit is exceeded and your map does NOT have a nextmap value, the game will crash, depending on the mod being played. And: Sounds value in worldspawn entity is 1. Sounds=1 is OK assuming the map is intended to be run while playing the first track of a music CD. However, track 1 of any Quake engine game installation CD is always a data track. It's generally good practice to set the sounds value to a number 2 through the number of CD tracks (11 in the case of the Q2 installation CD). Sounds=1 will result in the runtime error message 'CDAudio: track 1 is not audio' if the installation Q2 CD is in place.

Seems we have some intruders here at the moment (again). As allways making troubles, sorry. (not ST.) So we might be a bit "on our toes" at the moment. Ok thanks,hopefully I can get this fixed soon it's driving me crazy. Also if more info is needed just let me know and ill see what I can do to get it.

Well I figured it out... I guess the game didnt like me testing it using this certain texture all over the map(that little shoot button switch texture)but now everything is working fine.If you wish ill post a dl link to the map once ive finished with it.

Well im getting closer and closer to finishing it.Right now im going through and looking for a good way I want the lights set up. Hopefully ill have more for you soon.
