this is done in a very, very easy way. all standard textures are used, and no complicated tricks. maybe you know that you set flags for brushes and/or brush faces in Q2. these can be set even inside the texture. if a texture contains some flag setting, the brush which this texture is assigned to has these settings per default. if you set the flags in your map editor for the brush, it will override the flags which are stored in the used texture, if there are some. usually only special textures have internal flag settings, like liquids, light sources, windows. for animated textures it is required too. you can view and change these settings with your texture editor, for example Wally (recommended). these flags tell if the brush is solid or non-solid (mist), transparent, translucent, water, lava, flowing, warping, emitting light, ... etc. in tltf there is a underlying brush with a texture showing the Q2 symbol, and a thin brush is above it which has a simple metal slot texture (stretched a bit) and is set to 33% tranparency and flowing upwards. when you check the flowing flag for a brush, the texture is flowing from left to right per default. if you want to change this, like in this map, you need to go to the texture alignment dialogue of your map editor and rotate the texture until it flows in the direction you want it to. there are more tricks with texture flags in this map, if you look around. it's supposed to create a glimpse of Q3 Arena there.in Q3 these things are done with rather extensive shader scripts. hope that was helpful.

does your version of radiant really support Quake 2 ? don't you maybe have a Quake 3 only version ? there is no target_position entity at all in Quake 2. you have to give the trigger_push 3 values that describe a vector. change the "angle" key in the trigger_push to "angles" and enter three arguments. check out the tutorial here : www.gamedesign.net/node/46( the other tutorials there are also highly recommended, btw) www.gamedesign.net/node/42

umm, start with something like -55 90 0 and a speed like 60, then modify it for your needs. in Quark (this is what I use) an arrow appears on the triggerpush after setting the angles, allowing to modify the direction further by moving the arrow around. dunno if it is like that in GTKRadiant too.

did you install Quark the first time ? there will be no way around reading the manual, I can't explain everything here. I know some people complain that Quark does have issues under WinXP. I use Quark 6.4 alpha under win2000 SP 4, and have no problems at all, everything works fine. I also zipped my Quark directory once and sent it to a computer with WinXP. it worked there perfectly well too. if you encounter problems with it (or any other program) under your OS, there is one thing you can try: go to the Quark directory and right-click on Quark.exe. you get a menu which lets you chose a compatibility mode for this program, where you can select win2000 or win98. this would be something to try. I had some trouble with some mouse functions in games and programs under win2000, namely the third mouse button and scrolling. I fixed this finally with selecting "use Windows Office compatible scrolling" in the Logitech Mouseware options. maybe that's an issue too ? other than that, if your Quark does not what it is supposed too, I can't really tell you why. but you can look to Quark's homepage where is a FAQ and a link to their own forum. if there is an answer, it is there. there are 3 different textured preview modes available, 2 with software rendering and one with opengl (1). and you mean they all don't work for you ? another way to create a brush is the quick cube maker (2), it's the left one of these two buttons. you can left-click with the mouse at any point in the map, pull it a bit and then release it to make a brush. the right one would be the cutting too, which let's you instantly cut through brushes and big selections. finally, the the upper, left button on the new items menu field (3) gives you a menu for all brushes, simple and complex, and shape builders. if all this does not work for you, then Quark is useless on your system. but I doubt it. in my experience, everything can be brought to work if you try. hey, you are telling me that you are from China ?

you IP says that you are really from China .... cool. about the magical changing brush face : this is a so-called animated texture. maybe the editor prefers another animation frame to display than you do ? Quake itself is totally uncertain which is the right one, and cycles nonstop through all available ones. duh ! I sent you a link where you can find my Quark zipped. hope this helps.
