you guys should try it out, it's awesome. just be sure you've got a computer that can handle it. if you're able to play Doom 3 or Quake 4/Quake Wars, then you should be good to go.

Q2E sucks, really. It uses a new network API so Q2 mods aren't compatible (or, crash a lot). It's good for eye candy but not for playing online. Plus, it's technically dead, if you read the news page.

Paril, sorry to contradict you but Q2E is alive and well. It just has a new team working on it. The forums are constantly full of new updates and works-in-progress. Many people are working on remodeling, "relighting," and generally working on many things to keep it going strong. There's an even newer v1.0b that has been released. Q2 mods are compatible, and I've only experienced a few (rare) in-game crashes--and that was because I didn't have a good enough video card at the time. It's definitely worth checking out. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean no one else will either. No offense.
