Jstress actually is a great map. Makes great play on TS's mutant. It's significantly versatile for any number of players, teamplay, or ffa. However as you mentioned earlier, Jester is not mapping for q2w yet. Same goes for remakes of existing quake 1 levels. Would you accept a remake of edge and take the credit? So they should be obviously excluded from my comments. I never took credit for any of those levels. I simply mentioned their presence in Q2W. Quit changing your argument, which was totally irrelevant to this discussion in the first place. As to the rest of your comments, I've not yet offered a critique of Spirit's or Jester's levels. I actually agree with some of your points about clipping (and Spirit can attest to that), but claiming that Spirit ripped off another level or put no originality into his layout is pure bullshit. And accusing a level designer of "vanity" for including detailing in his work only hurts your own credibility.

So, here is my 2 cent.... Some people likes vanilla some different mods. Some are into flooter maps others not. You like hook or not?. Some like having the possibillity to push people off a map and some dont. Almost everyone uses different kind of clients now a days. Some are new players and some of us are very old. We have new mappers and old rusty ones. Some like the gameplay to be fast and some like looking at beautyfull walls. Some are into gothic and some into spacelike. I could go on with this... What I really think is; that we all love Quake2 and thats why we are here!. For a little while the contest score are in our minds, but time have showed us all, that in the end, all that matters, is creating new maps. We all love new maps, right?!. So, I think this is a bit like talking about how to raise a child or politics, noone ever wins. But look at the bright side, we now have 9 new maps to play, we are all winners here. And thats all that matter in my opinion...just my 2 cent, thx. for your time folks!.. -W1

jaydolan, how was I being arrogant when in effect, you came in out of nowhere and effectifly called us judges idiots. Yes there should have been more judges, fact is, there wasnt. Mapping should be fun, and at the same time serious to make sure its done right. I don't appreciate people that come in and flame people just because we didnt get it done right.
Fact is that we all are being one sided, and everone has their own opinion, so, with this, your entitiled to yours.
Now... nuff said...

Congrats to you Maric, well done. ***note the selective quote, I'm doing my best to avoid the other weighty 'stuff' (I'm a tender-hearted doily of a lad these days)*** What'ya say you and me get a nice room in a quite place with a great view of some lofty mountain peaks? We can snuggle by the fire with our mapping PCs and map together in sweet-sweet harmony... it'll be endless happy-happy-joy-joy? Eh?

X7, in no way am I condemning you for this either, you just wanted to make sure this went off without a hitch and I respect that, and I followed it. I KNEW posting our scores would cause a great amount of controversy. If you ask me, this is actually the most posts we've ever had at the Q2C in a period of 3 days! What's wrong with you people, having a flame war with each other on a community board. Come on! Wixen has it right. Let's all just shut up and follow his example. X7, I recommend you just lock all of the threads because I have a HUGE feeling someone's going to reply to this with more flaming, so let's stop it before it gets out of hand, eh? Most controversial year ever: 2008!! -Paril

That was the era of the great wars fought between the peoples of two Q2 loving neighbors or was that three or more? Good times...good times (no not really, I prefer the friendly relations and peaceful coexistence of these latter times). And no blame to be had or cast. As far as I am concerned, a 'recount' or 'corrective' judging based on more of the judges input is fine and dandy. I would be much happier to have a more fair and balanced result in the end. I have flames for no one, just bullets...

I think in the end, it was great to get some fresh new/fun dm maps to play on?
And I bet everyone had a lot of fun making them and being apart of all this.
Next time I wouldn't mind giving mapping a go :)

The ashen gray ruins still reach skywards from the dry cracked earth, they stand as monuments to the failings of human ego. Needless to say, most of it was horribly unnecessary (as is the same here and now) and typical of nerdy n3tw4rz. And what it all came down to was misunderstandings and missed communications. I think it started with humor and ego gone awry, we're all great pals these days...at least that's my take on it, I hope I have pals... ...anyone? Anyone care to toss a drowning man a lifeline?

Well, I agree with Maric, most of it was misunderstandings but there were a lot of pride and envi involved too i think. I like us all to be friends and in the last 2-3 years there have been no trouble to discus... Did you like my lifeline m?.. -W1

marics105, myself I think this map is very interesting. I have yet to figure out how to get to the BFG, but thats me.
The only issue i had with the map was a texture which was missing from the file, metals/m_pv_vZy.wal
Other than that, it is an amazing map.

The only issue i had with the map was a texture which was missing from the file, metals/m_pv_vZy.wal metals/m_pv_vZy.wal not use in this map. When I uploaded the maps to TS FTP I also made a file list of all the maps.

Gave this one a try a try and it looks very cool. Great choice of textures and cool atmosphere. Takes some time to get used to the gravity but I'll get that done! Congrats, Maric!
