Hey guys. I just completed my first publicly released map for Doom 2. It can be played with vanilla Doom 2, but it will look best using the Doomsday engine with the jDoom addons. If you're not into using modified engines though, it will run just fine in vanilla Doom 2. The only thing I recommend most is playing on Ultra-Violence. However, it does support all other difficulty settings if you're not up for it. Screenshots and download link: www.doomworld.com/vb/wads-mods/44264-hadeharia-my-first-map-completed/ (my map) www.doomsdayhq.com (Doomsday engine) files.dengine.net/index.php (jDoom addons) If any of you get a chance to play it, let me know what ya think.

Nothin' like going back and playing the old classics from time to time.

Yeah. maybe I should setup a zdoom server on my dedicated box and ask a few friends to play some DM on the maps we made 13 years ago. Damn, I'm getting old.

Don't feel bad, the last time I tried making a map for Doom was clear back in 1997. Lost it in a computer crash and never bothered with it since--until last week, when I started this new map.

I don't know what it is, but I have really bad luck with mapping. A rather cool map I was working on for Quake 2 met a similar fate a few years back, as many of you know. Before that was the Doom map. Finally successfully completed one--and it only took 11 years!

At least you didn't rush it. I didn't yet lose a map that was still WIP due to a HDD crash, but I lost some of my early Doom and Duke3D maps through sheer negligence I guess. I wasn't interested in mapping anymore at that time and got a new computer, then a new HDD and so on. I simply forgot to copy the maps to the new hardware when I copied all my other stuff. I've got the habit of backing up my maps regularly to my webserver now to avoid furher losses. Btw, here's a chicken:
