I don't know if this is the place for this but I want to comment on a few things. I have no clue where to comment on these things because non-gamers have no idea what I'm talking about. I used to play Rocket Arena 2 a lot and I loved it. I moved to q3 just because it was the new thing...I wanted to "make a name for myself" and I regret it. I'm 19 now and I miss the days of coming home from high school, hopping on Insomnia's 1/2 server and beating on people. I remember all the old clans like 1/2, eX, 51, NyX, 6iX...I came after the days of McP, HKA and such, who I hear were the real "legends."
I think it's sad that no one remembers the days of q2. I haven't played a video game in 2 years because q3 soured my view on gaming. I just wish all these amazing players I looked up to were documented somehow because no one knows or cares about them now. In my opinion they were masters at their craft. I didn't play dm much but I do remember clans like Section 8 and of course I heard of Death Row and Thresh. I always respected the way those guys moved around The Edge so effortlessly, doing all these double jumps flawlessly every time. Sure, many of these players I looked up to were just kids but they were still very good at the game. It took a lot of skill to play q2 and I think gaming has gone down hill since then.
I still remember downloading the demos Julios from Xeno made on how to strafe jump...good times...
I held my own in ra2 but when one of the big guys showed up I knew to step back and watch. I remember this guy CK8652 or something like that used to come on and beat people...he was sick. You'd have these guys come on once in a while, the old-school guys, and they'd destroy everyone. It was great.
I also remember a guy named Zero4 playing ra2 on Insomnia's server all the time. He was quite good. I wonder to this day if that is the same Zero4 that wins tournament after tournament professionally in q3.
Sorry for rambling...I just hope someone here has a clue of what I'm talking about
