We're really interested in knowing how you're all doing so far. Please try to update us on your mapping status at least once a week. Feel free to create your own WIP thread. Thank you!

Hey, I got a question regarding the contest: how many maps can I present? I'm working on a bunch of them...

I think there is no upper limit on maps (as long as you follow the other rules, like maps must be new etc, see the rules thread).

Hey, I got a question regarding the contest: how many maps can I present? I'm working on a bunch of them... You can submit as many maps as you like, as long as they previously haven't been available for download, and they're being seen for the first time.

I doubt I'll have the time to even start my map. I thought about starting it last week but Unreal Engine 4 happened and I took almost the whole week to learn the engine. Thankfully, I do have plans made for my map. I'll probably end up doing the map for Quake2World Quetoo when jdolan is done with the new NetRadiant build and I have the necessary free time.

Thanks for updating us on your status tehSandwich. It's too bad you decided to drop out of the race. Some would say that Quake2World isn't actually Quake2 nor is it part of this contest and I don't even know what Quetoo is, but hopefully it doesn't take away from uniting the Quake 2 community as a whole, which was one of the goals of this contest. It's unfortunate that you'll not be making a map this time around, considering we had high hopes in your abilities. Unreal Engine 4 is indeed a neat engine and it's definitely worth learning, although too bad it stole you away from finishing something here In the future we might consider holding some events around Unity, UDK or Unreal 4 under a new venue, and maybe then we'll be able to accommodate your interest to a greater degree.

Perhaps now would be a good time to hold a poll or some readiness check of all mappers to ensure most of the participants have had satisfactory time to complete at least one map? If not enough say yes, then a deadline extension of say maybe a few days/week etc could be considered? We do have quite a bit of mappers this time around after all and even a number of them are potentially MIA?, so it would be good to ensure most have had their best opportunity to deliver!
I hate to admit, I've had some good things in progress but I'll barely be able to make the deadline at this point due to too many issues that kept coming up throughout the entire time not allowing me much time for map work, even a slight extension would a life saver and guarantee I could make at least one decent entry with a very good map.

How much time do you need?
Does extra 5 days work? We shouldn't drag this contest on too long either. Original finish date was to be March 15th. But I understand everyone could use more time.
So how does March 20th sound?

Even 3 days more would have been likely quite enough personally, Even I don't want things dragged on too long because I want to finish my contest entry asap and resume more regular works, but for everyone else sake too I say let them chime in about how they feel if 5 works better for them, indeed it shouldn't be dragged out long as we've already had 30 days but considering the silence of a number of signed up mappers let's hope a little extension helps them too!

I doubt I'll have the time to even start my map. I thought about starting it last week but... Hey it'd be awesome if you could still participate in this contest, if not as a mapper then maybe with a different role, now that you're free from mapping. Perhaps I can interest you in being a judge instead? We could use capable people like yourself to help rate the maps once the contest wraps up. What do you say? Here's where you can join: leray.proboards.com/thread/3661/judges-statusCheers

March 20th sounds great!!! Alright,
I'm going to extend the deadline till March 20th to give everyone more time. Still, try to finish as soon as possible because we'll not be adding any more time after that. This gives you just 5 extra days to work on your maps, so use this time wisely. Please don't treat this only as extra assurance to just kick back and relax, because you might still run out of time if you're not careful Also, try to test compile your most recent version at least 2 days prior to this deadline, so you aren't stuck with some weird compile errors later. Keep this bsp just in case. This way you'll know that once the time comes you'll actually be in the position to submit something on time.

I would love to submit a map, but work and life have taken their toll. Hopefully the 5 days will allow me to finish
