It's your gamma setting, homie. If the screenshots look darker than in-game, that means you're using hardware-based gamma correction. Your video card is adding gamma to the framebuffer after the game renders it. Reset vid_gamma to 1.0.

You can't say I didn't warn you Looking forward to the updated maps I think we spent so much time talking (arguing? ) about gl_modulate that we forgot to mention gamma.

Jadolan, NuLL, WizardExt, ThX!! Q2 communityQ2 maps details are alll about the light-strength. And there is a very big differences, in my old and new settings.. how players & Judge see my maps, and how I designed it...I was shocked... difference between day and night...pfffff the earth without the sun... sorry for all the ( clutter - dark shit maps ) that I released, also in the previous maps. ( my apologies )I'm going to make this right with margaalxxfinal versions...lighting adjustment.

Yeah, Margaal wtf #26 was so dark and brown I couldn't believe you made it like that on purpose, so I figured it was something wrong with my client. Also, was one of your spawn points facing a wall?

And me. Just a suggestion: I think you should make your maps lighter. They look way darker than the standard maps, and it's a lot of eye strain to try to see anything in them. On the bright side (hah, pun), if you use arghrad, you can easily use the -scale and -gamma parameters to adjust the overall brightness of the map without redoing everything. You should aim to match the brightness levels of the standard Quake2 dm maps.

Sry Jitspoe I just could not believe that my maps were dark in my previous maps, nobody did complain!.. but gotta say it was quiet these years on Q2cafe forum. Ahhhh Good news is ( have NOW good setup ) gl_modulate "3" vid_gamma "1.0" And already repair, fix m26,m27,m28 and send new zipped finals files to Null... here screenshot maps: Kmq2. margaal26final margaal27final margaal28final

3rd pic looks great! Second has red lighting from where? First looks too much like Fullbright. Isn't the skybox orange? The 2 doorways on the 2nd floor don't have any shadows at all!

I think the middle one looks great. The first one is indeed fullbright, the last one has some odd saturation issues, and uneven lighting top-to-bottom.
Btw, Null or Wixen should we move all of these posts re: Margaa'ls maps into a new thread?
