Iam mapping with Gtkradiant and i have added my folder of textures,but when i open them in radiant it just says "Missing Shaders".What now?

You need to setup the game directories to point to your folder instead of the baseq2 folder.

How do i do that?The texture appears in the texture browser but it says "Missing Shader" do i need a shaders file?If so how do i make one?

Go to "File" in the menu bar, the look for "Project Settings". Click on that, then where it says "fs_game", put the name of your folder that contains the textures you made. So for example I have a mod folder called "destruct" in the quake 2 root directory. Inside this folder is a textures folder with my custom modified quake 2 textures, so when I want to use my textures, I put "destruct" in the "fs_game" input box. Then restart GTKRadiant and it will all be working for you hopefully. Cool? I hope I helped you mate

for some reason the fs_game is greyed out.

To add new textures, it should be enough to put them in a subdirectory of quake2/textures/, I usually put them in a folder with the name of the map, e.g., quake2/textures/spirit2dm4/. You can download a Quake 2 map with custom textures and look at the directory structure in the ZIP archive to see how it's done. Here is one of my maps that uses custom textures: maps.rcmd.org/quake2/spirit2dm2/spirit2dm2.zipQuake2 texture are in WAL format, not JPG unless you only target modern custom engines. The Q2 textures are also indexed (they use a fixed color palette, the Quake 2 palette -- see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indexed_color). You can convert JPG to WAL using a tool like Wally. Quake2, unlike Quake 3, does not support shaders btw. And your radiant configuration does not seem 100% correct, e.g., "engine : 'quake3.exe'" looks suspicious. But that most likely is not related to the textures not showing up.

when distributing maps as a pak file,i have an issue.Quake 2 looks in the maps folder instead the pak folder.How can i point q2 to read from the pak folder?
