I still sometimes use the Quake2Evolved engine for comparison purposes with stuff I'm working on with KMQuake2. Recently, I found that it crashes on startup after I updated my video drivers. This turned out to be caused by the same bug related to the OpenGL extension string that struck every other modified Q2 engine and Q1-Q3 engine-based game back in 2009. Only it happened much later because Q2E's printmessage buffer is 2x that of most other engines. Much like I did with Quake2Max, I've patched Q2E v0.40 (the last version before they introduced real-time lighting) to fix this crash. I also added proper widescreen support, and NPOT texture support (which fixes the unreadable text in the intermission cinematics). This version includes the Doom3 HUD patched for widescreen as well. Let me know about any widescreen scaling bugs, as I haven't exhaustively tested this. www.markshan.com/knightmare/downloads/q2e_v0.40a.zipwww.markshan.com/knightmare/downloads/q2e_v0.40a_src.zip
