After the files were reviewed, it has been determined that margaal though making a valiant effort to cross the finish line first has not completed the task at hand.
Stay tuned. (incoming hits and tips)

Nice job throwing in those links for the community ...nice to see people sharing their files. That's the kind of contributions that could rebuild a community.

"Here are the links for the Q2 Community.." Sounds like a good ole fashioned mapping taunt ...much like mine did. " Perhaps you should have calculated 12 moves ahead " I love mapping taunts, by the way, especially when they're hidden inside a well constructed, beautifully designed map. There is nothing like playing on maps made specifically for the final rounds of a tournament that have been made with the deepest of love and attention... When suddenly, out of nowhere, very craftily constructed mapper taunts pop out of the map making jabs at the players playing them. They're big hits with the crowds watching and where mappers can make big tip$$$! I have a deep love for a variety of things, chess as well... and now for the follow up to the "Stay tuned " Since you called on the Quake 2 community to assess your work from your post, then I presume by Quake 2 community you are referring to the Quake 2 Cafe community. Then that's what we will do! I love collaboration! I call on any member or all members of the Quake 2 Cafe community to assess if Margaal completed the task at hand (see original post) that he volunteered for of his own volition for an advantage in an upcoming Mapping Tournament. "Yes" or "No" is all that's needed by anyone coming forward. Please do not give any explanation as to why yes he did or no he did not. Once again, just a "Yes" or "No." If anyone, either an individual or the majority, agrees that yes you completed the task, then I will disclose to you the advantage prior to the commencement of the "Quake2 Money Makers Open Mapping Tournament." If one person steps forward and says no, then the advantage will remain on the table for others or yourself, Margaal, to attempt to make their claim. All future attempts will be put before the Quake 2 Cafe community for assessment. I will be gone for this upcoming week for other prior personal commitments. Hopefully someone or several will come forward and post in this thread either "Yes" or "No." If no one comes forward while I am gone, or as a generous gesture, by the end of this month (January 31, 2020) then you, Margaal, will win the advantage by default whether it was completed correctly or not.

Well, here we are Margaal. January 31, 2020. Looks like you won the advantage by default. Congratulations!!! However, since you quit not only on your team but also Quake 2, the mapping club, and Quake 2 Cafe, you also now lose the advantage by default. Rage mapper quit! D'oh!Now since I am a generous type and you have been a contributing member (from past posts I have read) of the Quake 2 Cafe, should you return and wish to participate in the Quake 2 Money Makers Open Mapping Tournament once it is announced, I will allow you to enter. However, because you quit, your entry into the tournament will be conditional. In order to enter your map/s in the contest/s, you will be required to provide a detailed breakdown of your map/s. This includes, but is not limited to... - Models - Sound effects - Textures/texture packs - Skins - Color palette - Tutorials - Etc. ...Oh, and one last thing, a thesis on your inspiration for the design process of your submitted map/s. The length and complexity of the thesis will be up to you. This will be required for every map you enter into the contest with no extra credit earned (more on that in a moment). Guess you will have to map your ass off should you return and want to make it to the end. I just noticed you are now a deleted member so if I may offer some wisdom from my experience as a hardcore player of the Quake series, "Never quit, never give up." I've researched your maps online and you can produce a good map, but if I was to give out a suggestion and you were receptive to it, I would say this, "Create a consistent visual language in your maps and open up your feedback style." What that means to you or how you interpret it is what will give your maps and your reputation a "classic Margaal"-esque feel. Just for some future information: For all others, completing the aforementioned requirements will earn you extra credit. As the term suggests, these extra credits will be added to your score in the final tournament. These can mean the difference between losing, winning, and winning big and can help even the playing field between participants of varying levels of experience. Quake 2 Cafe may not be alone in this tournament so don't go thinking this will be a cake walk for anybody at the higher experience levels. Including a detailed breakdown of your map/s entered to score you some extra points is your choice. More information to follow on scoring once the tournament is announced. A final note: It pays to never give up, but it pays even more to be a winner. For the curious, the final round of the tournament is called, The Purge. If you made it this far, "somebody" is watching off the grid and is willing to pay you a lot of $$$$money$$$$ to design and build a custom player/clan map. To close this grind thread out, for your entertainment I present an oldie but a goodie.

margaal, I'm not going to mention any names, but someone went to bat for you and because I respect what this person has brought forward to the online community over the years through their own personal time and effort, I will overlook recent events. Should you return to the Quake 2 Cafe, which I certainly hope you do, and wish to participate in the tournament once it's announced, you may do so without penalty. However, the advantage will still remain off the table to respect the integrity of the tournament and the participants.
