All that extra work you took upon yourself should be very helpful for anyone lurking thinking about joining up and making their first map or just trying to find a good copy of it. It will definitely cut down on my personal time searching the online grid and piecing files together. Thanks from my end!

One thing I forgot to add is that in the "Rust Quake2 handbook" archive I used "best-match" example maps from the 05/1998 archive. The func_plat example map is probably the wrong one, as it was the only one in the set that contained even a single func_plat. The partial transparency and r_speed reduction maps are among the ones entirely missing.
If anyone has any of the example maps missing from the second archive, please post them and I will add them to and re-upload the second archive.

Might come in handy when thinking about mapping with KM Quake2.

That backup has some of the same problems I mentioned- a couple missing images (func_areaportal r_speeds). The rust_tut_052598 archive I uploaded is more complete.
I tried downloading the func_plat map and it was the wrong one, it was a func_train controlled by trigger_elevator.
Also, the Jan2008 archive I reconstructed has newer tutorials (such as partial transparency, r_speeds reduction, how to hand-edit .map files) not in the original Rust ones.

In that case, thanks, I'll be downloading the reconstructed archive shortly.

Good try anyhow qbism! I'm sure it will turn up eventually, probably buried out there deep in a Q2 vault just waiting to be rediscovered underneath layers of other stuff. Like finding a secret in Q2 or an awesome custom sp player mission, except now it's a community / ies file hunt, loading level lol. Thanks for the update knightmare and once again the extra work you took on!
