i am a retired quake 2 vet, I stopped playing online and moved to casual single player sessions. I assume most of us are in their late 30s or early 40s and some of us do not consider a couch plus gamepad combo to be an unforgivable sin any longer. I was one of these purists lauging at anything other than mouse plus keyboard, and now my time has come, I can hardly believe i ask for that but my back hurts so much these days.
I know it is possible to find a workaround in q2 and use advanced joystick setup, write your own binding script etc. However, when turning the rotating screen is far from being smooth and I have no idea how to set the analog deadzones. Can I kindly ask for either a solution or a small xinput update?

I managed to configure the controller correctly with advanced joystick binding script, what we miss is mouse smoothing, without it the screen is a little shaky when turning, is mouse smoothing implemented in kmquake? Guess it was in sof that wa based on q2 engine, maybe im missing something again, a magic console variable?

m_filter was my bet but it does not smooth analog stick (or keyboard) turning. Then, I tried a mixture of Joy_advanced for left analog stick and triggers and steam controller emulating mouse for the right one (plus m_filter), this was working quite well but then i found another problem that irritates me so much (nothing related to Xbox controller). Out of the box controller support would be a nice feature to have.
