Hello,
While I'm trying to improve my new map, I want to switch from Qoole v 2 to Thread 1.12.
To achieve that, i would need these two files:
Treadsetupv1_11.zip
Tread_112_patch.zip
And Maric's tutorial (Mapping with Maric).
Does someone still have these versions somewhere and willing to share?
I searched for it and found no working link.
Regards

Anybody? We should set up an online repository with all the tools, to help this game live another 20 years

I have some Tread-stuff here, tho I never used it. this version should be the one maric used, it contains the files you are asking for.
and here are some plugins for it:
got some more stuff, but this might be good to start with. as far as I remember ppl had problems installing Tread, it should be put in C:/Tread or it causes problems.

I have the installer for Tread3D 2.3F, but that's not the version you're looking for.
Never actually tried it, but I hear the pre-2.0 versions are not well supported on modern versions of Windows.
For map editing I would recommend either QE/GTKRadiant, or TrenchBoom. You should avoid Quark, as it generates bad brush structures that run into the limits of the Q2 BSP format much faster than other editors.
I'm also working on a new version of Radiant for Q2 derived from Q3Radiant.

I'm also working on a new version of Radiant for Q2 derived from Q3Radiant. Until now I used Qoole 2.5 in a virtual machine. Windows version is not a problem for me.
But the problem with Qoole is mainly that you loose precision when converting from .qle to map format. Leading sometimes in unexpected results.
What are the benefits of GTKRadiant compared to other editors?
From map compilation I use ArghRad. It's supposed to give best visual results than unmodified ID software tools. But don't know if another one has more advanced features than that one.

GTKRadiant is derived from the editor used to make Q2/Q3A and was/is developed by TTimo, so it uses best practices in building maps for the Q2 tools. It avoids the bad brush structures that Quark and Deathmatch Maker are known for, and the precision loss / floating point errors of Qoole. It can be customized to show the added surface/content flags that enhanced Q2 engines such as KMQ2 use. Radiant also has lots of plugins available. The only thing better than ArghRad is a newer version of ArghRad. There's the 3.0 test build from 2005 that works well, but its abandoned state (with no suorce released) means it will not see any new features. Sort has reverse engineered it, his project is available here: github.com/zzsort/blarghradI have a version of Arghrad 2.01 modified from the original source, which is designed for use with KMQBSP. Right now it's still WIP: markshan.com/knightmare/downloads/kmqbsp_114_test2.zip

I tried Trenchbroom because it installs fine under Linux. I like it's ability to cut shapes? I'll look into it more for the moment.
About GTK radiant I saw some videos on youtube that seem to show that it's the tool of choice for texture management.
I'll try also Tread 1.12 in a windows 2000 virtual machine.
If only we could have Qoole source code to patch that error. It still has a very intuitive user interface with lot of nice features.

Using TrenchBroom I try to apply a different texture to each face of an object but I'm unable to find how to do so (In Qoole, this is perfectly possible) is there an hidden option somewhere?
