hi !
I tried to connect to online servers with kmquake2, using the "+set cl_servertrick 1" command. Basically it worked fine, with the exception of downloading map files. The program stopped and said "cannot download* How can I enable it ?

ah, should have read the readme ... the allow_download cvar, yep
but I get kicked by actionquake servers, messages about illegal settings, or when I connect, the action weapons do not appear, but the traditional Q2 weps.
so I can only play on servers which have mods that are supported by kmquake2 ?

Are you sure you were actually connected to the server when the default weapons appeared? It sounds like you started a local game with the default Lazarus DLL.
KMQ2 as a client *should* work with any server-side mod run on a vanilla Q2 server.

yep, I tried a bit around - most mods are working fine, tried awaken2, chaos, weapons, xatrix. of all the mods I tested online was actionQ2 the only one which made problems. tried different stuff, like putting the original action - weapons into a pk3-file, wasn't helping. the weapons it shows are the Q2 standard weapons, with the exception of the knife.

Looks like another model conflict with those md3 remodels (md3 always overrides md2). You'll have to remove the remodel pak in baseq2, or else convert the AQ2 models to md3 somehow.

well, I like the remodel weps very much, removing them is not an option since I rarely play actionQ2, and when I do I can use another engine.
btw, have you ever thought of porting actionQ2 to kmquake2 ? the source is available :
would be cool ....
