So I've been playing RTCW for over a decade and typically stealth my way through the game, especially on IADI. But I've recently patched the game with 1.42d and now the AI on the map NORWAY is practically omniscient. There's a mention of a "laggy AI" fix having been implemented on the map, but I'm not sure what that implies. The AI had been just as functional as any other level in the game, but with this current fix, getting past even the first checkpoint is almost impossible because paratroopers are instantly aware of me the moment I go near the frozen docks and I get annihilated.
Not sure what happened but it's very frustrating.
Could anyone enlighten me on what was changed and why? This is so far the only level that I would consider being broken now.

Some minor changes were made to the script for that level to fix AI-related lagginess. You can try opening the sp_pak4.pk3 file with PakScape and renaming maps/norway.script to something like norway.script.bak and saving the pk3.
Otherwise, there were no code changes to the AI. The patch is compiled with a newer version of Visual Studio (VS2008) than the official binaries of the game (MSVC6), due to id converting the project files (and removing the original ones) prior to releasing the source. That compiler change caused a crash at end of the dam level that has been fixed. There could possibly be other bugs caused by that as well.

Alrgihty. I'll fiddle around with stuff, see if something can fix it, or just deal with the issue and try to get through some other way. Thank you and have a nice day

Alright, so, I've renamed the script file, even removed it entirely, but the problem remains. The enemies can basically see me through walls. I kid you not. I turned on notarget to get past the first group of paratroopers and into the secret room, but when I walked, q u i e t l y, through the little shack, they immediately were alerted. No line of sight, no sound that could have alerted them. Something is very wrong in this level. Maybe it's just the difficulty? But I doubt it because it didn't happen on previous levels at all. I'm truly at a loss.
