has anyone checked out the Oblivion release at Moddb? it seems to not only feature the latest update, but also the soundtrack and even Source Code
it would be possible to check it out and see if its possible to fix the issues with KMQ2?

The only Oblivion issue with KMQ2 is the fact the mod needs to be ported, which requires its full source code. And I looked all through that download, there is no source code there.

That's the entity list (normally with the .ent extension) for Radiant, not actual source code. If you actually read it, it's a series of comment blocks (one for each entity).

my bad then, again its sad to see this addon in this state.
it still hope that one of the guys who worked on it still has the SRC archived somewhere, it would be nice to see someone finishing this addon and giving it a proper ending. Even Unseen got one and is unfinished.

The last I heard of this mod's source being worked on was by Argh in 2005 or 2006. Shortly after that, he disappeared.
I'd say that one of the biggest mistakes Carmack made with Quake2, technical and code wise, was using a native binary mod format (Win32 DLL) and then not requiring mod authors to release their source. You have Oblivion, Rocket Arena2, the Eraser Bot, Rob the Strogg, and other mods either fully or partially closed-source, which prevents porting and bug fixes.
