Hello friends, I need a little help from you, I want to add levelshots and modify the graphical interface of quake 2, for my Quake 4 mod in Quake 2, but I always get the message "bad jpg file" in the kmquake 2 engine what type of JPG file should I use for it to work?
I also want to modify the texture of the quake 2 console to put the new logo that I designed but when I convert it to PCX which is the conback.pcx file it looks horrible like a console with static. I look forward to your help.

JPG images should be standard encoded in 24-bit color, not progressive encoded, which can cause a crash in some instances. I use Paint Shop Pro 7 for this, with encoding quality set to 100.
Quake2 only supports 8-bit pcx images using the Q2 palette (found in colormap.pcx). You probably tried to use a 24-bit pcx, which is unsupported. You don't even need to use .pcx for conback in KMQ2. You can use TGA, JPG, or PNG.
Also, using gfx/ui/newconback looks better, as you can see the whole image when you open the console ("new console background" must be enabled in the Interface options menu). This image should be in 8:3 aspect ratio.
