I think the shareware was like 20mb or so... It came on a cd that you could get a code from Id to unlock the full version... this is when the industry first started moving away from shareware....
When I get home, I'll make you a .zip

say lol. forgot I took the hard drive out of my home computer when it burned up.... Fortunately, I put it in my work comp to test it before I forgot where I put it... I found the install package... I don't think the game works with Win XP... I tried to run it on my work comp but it kept closing... Heres a link to the install files for Quake 1: Shareware uploadgenie.com/download.php?file=b3e60390040dfa44eb9309aeef2c36c2PS: I'm pretty sure multiplayer was supported by the shareware version of the game...

ooh.. don't drink the cola! it will not feel good, no matter how drunk you get, to have bubbly sugary syrup in a newly carved oral cavity.......

You can get the full version online, it's called eQuake I think. Probably not legal, but oh well, it comes with FuhQuake and the original id1 pak files:D
I'm almost done. I'm just converting all skins/pics (Guran is) to the Q2 palette (they won't look different in-game) so they are usable!

Wixen1: you can run older games on your newer computer but you will need to find an emulator for the operating system that you want to use.... If you are going to run it from a DOS style emulator (which I would reccommend) try DOSBOX... dosbox.sourceforge.netit will allow you to open a "window" in windows XP and other OS's that looks and acts just like DOS and has drivers so your mouse and monitor and all that stuff works with it... you can run almost anything in the dosbox that you could normally run on a win98 or older computer... but it does require a decent amount of processor speed to work.. All in all, I'd say its a vital tool for those of us out there who still love our ancient games... I know Quake worked on my windows98 computer. and it works with win95 and regular old DOS 6.* If you've got an old dinosaur tower laying around, that might be easier...

caution: it may not run quake1 very well as it has problems with games that have a high framerate... there are a few of settings you can change on the dosbox to negate this effect like setting the virtual system clock in the dosbox higher so it can use your cpu faster...
But it runs almost everything I've ever tried to run on it without major difficulties... I have quite a few really old games that I couldn't play otherwise...
