...This is in no way a shooter, nor any way of having any health limit of any sort. You can smack people with your board, that's pretty much it.
The goal is to get a nice realistic skateboarding game, because that's one type of game I enjoy.

I may have missed some of the details that would answer these questions but...
-Will this be only for skate park maps or will other styles work?
-What about a downhill racing mode?
-Are there any special surface properties that would be required for the maps?
-Would it be possible to tweak the pitch so that we could ride through a cork-screw?
I can think of more map ideas for this kind of mod than I'd ever have time to make BUT they would be mostly simple to create. I picture a lot of long, twisty downhill runs with nice "bobsled" type curves and tunnels and such.
This seems like a fun idea, I still have my old Fiber-Flex board (bright red, black grip-tape), my Solar Radiation wheels (neon yellow) and my Bennett Pro trucks (black and chrome) combo from the mid 1970's . I was ten or eleven when I first got into skating... I break too easily now so those are the days of foolish and carefree yore for me.

Hehehe.

Any map will work with this game, but the limit in Q2PS is drastically improved, and I will probably remove that stupid black rendering thing that cuts the map off.
-What about a downhill racing mode?
Sounds interesting. The only modes I have planned are Free Skate / High Score, and Single Sessin (2 minute point comp)
-Are there any special surface properties that would be required for the maps? No, everything is engine-handled.
-Would it be possible to tweak the pitch so that we could ride through a cork-screw? Probably. I will make the angles change with the surfaces normal that he is riding on, that's for sure.

Speaking of skating, have you guys ever tried sk8, dbtrk1 or dbtrk3? The first is a skate park (where you blast each other with handcannons in AQ2, but would work in vanilla Q2 too) and dbtrk1/3 are racing maps. Do you know any other maps that make good use of the slick function to skate around?

Not really.
This project wasn't about the slick flag, it used real world physics to maneuver around maps. Slick isn't a function, either, just a simple check is made to see what type of normal the player is on.

Yeah, they're just fun little diversions and not much like real skateboarding at all. It can be pretty fun though.
