Excellent map Sabotuer [Q2C]...nice looking and a quality size for a good 1-4 bang. I know it's beta but in the first picture you posted(top), area near RG, you have a plate sticking out of the pillar...don't forget to clip that area and also, same picture..each side near rocket ammo. R_speeds are good considering the openess of the map. Good work m8. ps...thanks for the 'welcome' Le Ray[Q2C]

An excellent looking map Whirlingdervish. A great design and some loverly textures. However, I would like to point out one problem I found with the map. I'm not sure how you make your water but you've done the right thing in making it none transparent yet if you run showtris through the map, you'll see that everything underwater is still rendered by the q2 engine. I don't know if you've only told the top side of the water brush to be none transparent but, all sides of the brush need to have transparency turned off. See trans33/trans66 in your texture editor. Or maybe you have translucent ticked on the brush...if so, turn it off. If you get this right m8, your r_speeds will be lowered and the map would run much smoother online and players underwater will not have to render anything above the waterline and vise versa. Also, your compiling time would be reduced. Hope you sort this out m8 as it's a loverly map as I say...and I would love to try it out on my server but r_speeds in excess of 1300 averaging the map is a little too high. The part of the map near the gong(downstairs) is beautiful and r_speeds are perfect here.
Mart.

err...well...actually, While I was messing with the lighting...to see the light I was messing with at the time, I coloured it red just to allow me to see the strength of the beam. I normally do this while setting the entity up, before I then set the colour back to white or whatever colour I want as sometimes it's hard to see the effect when it is only slight. Anyway first thing I thought when I saw it was...'wow that looks like a blood stain...I'll leave that in'. And so there you go...it's suposed to be a blood stain from an earlier battle....obviously it did'nt fool you LOL Oh well....I'd better start learning to improve my artwork Cheers....Mart.

Hi lads....I've just released my new map to celebrate my servers 5th birthday. It's the first time I've tried making a terrain map and I built it all brush by brush or triangle by triangle without using any terrain generators. The map's not beta as I've already gone through all that with testers from my server and so, all comments and criticism are welcome...however, suggestions are not as half my regulars already have the map. Here's a download link:- www.grinder1.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/maps/gr_high.zipAnd here(if I've done this right) are a couple of screenshots:- ps...I created the skybox myself using the excellent Terragen. www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/Thx....Mart.

I was just sitting here, the day after my birthday and reflecting on yesterday when I suddenly remembered that last year, when I was using the Cafe' alot. I was suprised to find a post here wishing me happy birthday. So, rather presumptuously, I decided to check to see if I had a message again this year....and here it is. A big thank you guys...it's a nice thought. Had a great day...the wife bought me an RC helicopter which I've been enjoying...although I nearly took my own head off with it earlier today. Anyway...I have'nt been around here much lately but I have been working on a new map in recent weeks and will hopefully have it finished in the next week or so. Chat to ya soon....thx again.

Well, I presume it would allow him to use his mousewheel to zoom in and out in real time...like the telescopic scope on a sniper rifle. ;D
