the one sitting on a person's finger looks fake (note the lack of any shading/shadows whatsoever), but it's still pretty darn cool looking. it'd be neat to see a transparent player skin/model for q2.

It depends on the location of the sun to whichever location the shadows may direct. The legs might be small enough that it's hard to see the shadow

That's the only "real" one in the lot. They are all "real" but that is the one picture that has had little or no manipulation at all done to it. The others have had some "touching" up work done to them and all of the except the second large pic from the bottom have had the hue and saturation adjusted. They went just a little too far with it and the colors are very "blown-out". They should have shown a little more restraint BUT doing what they did sure brought out the details and base coloring so in the end... It's pretty okay.

An example or two... Here is a pic of an Eastern Pond-hawk (very immature) that I coaxed onto my thumb. Image one is "raw" or untouched, image two is enhanced and refined just a little. Digital photography is so very cool.

Well, where I'm from, we call those mosquito hawks...lol
But I wanted to ask anyone if they have ever hypnotized a dragon fly/mosquito hawk? It doesn't work on all of them, but if you see one facing you, let's say sitting on a fence. Start walking towards it very slowly and take your finger and make a large circular motion. Slowly walk closer to it (you may have to nudge the fence) and when it starts to fly again, it will make the same motion as your hand and land on your finger. Sounds crazy, but I do it all the time. The one in this photo will not do this. It's usually the darker colored ones that do this. Try it out. Takes a little practice.

Damn, these are beautiful! To bad there are almost no butterflies in Iceland, only small brown/grey ugly ones
