I started on this one last week, and after an insanely long vis build, it's finally ready. It's meant for Insta-gib rails (with or without nades) and should support up to around 20 players. So without further ado, I present to you Wdrail02: Odin's Altar: You can download the map here: dervish.tastyspleen.net/files/wdrail02.zipcheck it out, tell me what ya think. nice terrain, nice map. looks really smooth. another step forward there, derv. just the long vis compile gives me a headache. you surely didn't set the detail flag for the terrain brushes or make just a fast vis ? because in an open, small terrain map there isn't much to hide and the vis table does not gain too much importance. I had a missing texture when loading the map first, but it was easy to fix. again, nice job.

I ran a full vis on it, and very little except for the short wall section and the little domed temple ended up with a detail flag on it. A few things I made into func_wall like the little hammer and the torches... unfortunately for me and my build machine, it had tons of terrain generator created hint brushes around the terrain. I had meticulously yanked a bunch of them out, that were doing nothing but making things more complex than they needed to be, but I'm sure it still made a gazillion un-needed cuts when it went through qbsp3.exe... I was thinking that this might have created tons of tiny portals for every bit of space that got chopped up, including the large "open" air space, and given the vis program a handful to work with... I'd never had a map take longer than 3 hours to vis before. edit: fixed the texture.. wrong directory! thx for the heads up.

nice map m8.. should be a bit larger if u ask me... but that's my opinion.. some smaller rooms linked to the big one.. maybe make one second map with that.. cuz its a really nice map, but 20 players you say?!.. i would say 5-6.. top..
and another thing.. Odin didn't have any hammer! =P

you are a Quark user, aren't you ? load up the compiled bsp file, edit and change the entities as you like it, and then make an entity only compile.
