Error opening C:\Quake2\baseq2\pics/colormap.pcx: No such file or directory
This comes up while compiling my map with Worldcraft 1.6, and the obvious error seems to be making my map fullbright, as in no shadows.

I guess "C:\Quake2" will not be the correct path to your Quake 2 directory then ? In the preferences of your editor you have to enter the correct path to Quake 2. I didn't ever use Worldcraft, but this is something which all editors have in common. Colormap.pcx is a resource needed by the light compiler, so it must know where to find it.

You need to extract that file colormap.pcx from the Quake2/baseq2/pak0.pak And put it in the dir Quake2/baseq2/pic/ folder. I had the same problem the compiling utilities needed that file in that sub dir. X7

Ahhh beautiful! Thanks a lot! 2 or 3 years ago I probably would've known to do that, but oh well, live, learn, forget.
