I've always wondered what programs people use for this and that so I decided to make a list of my programs I use concerning mapping. Map Editor: Qoole v.0.99 - qoole.gamedesign.net/Texture Editor: Wally v.1.55b - www.telefragged.com/wally/Sound Editor: Audacity 1.2.4 - audacity.sourceforge.net/-Other stuff- Mapspy: I use it to locate the textures in the map, but it can also find bugs - mapspy.gamedesign.net/WinBSP: To make a .aas file for the gladiator bot - Where you can find the gladiator bot or WinBSP, I don't know! PS: If any of you got a program so I can change a demo (.dm2) into a .mpg or some videofile, it would be well appreciated

PS: If any of you got a program so I can change a demo (.dm2) into a .mpg or some videofile, it would be well appreciated www.fraps.com/Get Fraps, set it up to suit your needs. You can set up "hot keys" to record while in any almost any game. Just run your demo and you will end up with a nice .avi file. They can get huge so keep an eye on them. It is easy to convert an .avi to pretty much anything else you would want to use later.

WinBSP: To make a .aas file for the gladiator bot - Where you can find the gladiator bot or WinBSP, I don't know! www.mrrc.obninsk.ru/alex/programs/quake2/gladq2096_win32-x86.exeI found one working link right now. ONE !! it's like dramatic .... there is a desperate demand for new ftp servers providing Q2 goods !! or else noone will be able to find them on the web anymore soon. btw, greetings m. where ya have been ? this frame capture tool is nice, but not for me. It demands DirectX9 which I just uninstalled again (ever tried to uninstallDirectX) and replaced with DX 8.1 once more. Is there another frame capture tool which does not require DX 9 ?

I don't know off-hand of any other tool. I think I may have an older version of Fraps somewhere. It is at least two years old so the DX version will not be an issue. Back at ya with the greetings. I have been lurking now and then. The ol'ady and I have been working on building our two new businesses so that has demanded some time. And... I have been writing a book. I actually finished the first draft yesterday. Now I get to go back and edit about 134,000 words worth of my blather. Tie up looses ends, correct errors, re-write a lot of things that evolved too far away from the beginnings and so forth. All of this while the wifey illustrates some pen and ink artwork for it and so forth on that too. Once that is done, it is fingers crossed for nailing down a publisher... I have my doubts about that part but who knows... It is fun to have dreams, right? Thanks for asking btw.

I have just finished a novel length book, it needs a lot of work and then we will submit it... If it gets picked up then maybe I can makes claims such as "I'm a writer". I know this though, it would be a dream job. And no... no maps pics for the cover

And WinBSP, I have WinBSPC you can use. Search it up, it's on kingpinforever's map section.

This wouldn't happen to be something like "My life in the Quake 2 scene" or something ? If it is, you wouldn't write too bad about me, would you ? I also have written a book with poems once ( t'was rather small prose, using radical lower-case all the time .... you get the idea ..... ) which would have been published if I could have finished it.

Cool stuff .... This wouldn't happen to be something like "My life in the Quake 2 scene" or something ? Nah, I do have an idea for a short story that might take place in a game world though. If it is, you wouldn't write too bad about me, would you ? Why absolutely ;-) I also have written a book with poems once ( t'was rather small prose, using radical lower-case all the time .... you get the idea ..... ) which would have been published if I could have finished it. GO FINISH IT! I am in the grueling process of first edit... OUCH!

Ah... the EDIT: the wonderful process by which everything you meant to get across to the reader gets either slightly alterred or utterly destroyed for the sake of keeping the book under 1000 pages and on the right track... I've done a bit of writing, for this and that (mostly just for fun though), and I find hacking my stories up and rearranging them for better flow and removing all the redundant stuff is really much harder than the initial act of creation.... I can B.S. for days and days, but when it comes time to edit all of it, I think I'd much rather pay a couple people to do it, and then settle with the version that ended up the closest to what I wanted... good luck m!
