You should go here and read the Documentation on Qoole. qoole.gamedesign.net/When you run the first build with qbsp3.exe, this will tell you if there's a leaked/hole. This also makes a "mapname.lin". I use Tread3D, I can import "mapname.lin" and it show's a yellow line where the leaked/hole, it always stops at and entity. But if no hole in the map there could be and entity out side the map area, or you might have link two(2) entities in diferent parts of the map where the center is out side the map area. If there is no leaked/hole then the qbsp3.exe will make, "mapname.bsp" & "mapname.prt". the "mapname.prt" is used with the qvis3.exe. Here is what I see when there is a hole in a map I'm working on.. You need to extract the colormap.pcx from the baseq2/pak0.pak and put it in the baseq2/pic/ folder.

And he didn't use a capital letter on the Q in Qoole, nor in MSN. I think he's dead!

I'd start over from scratch with QuArK. Quoole works for some people, but not very reliably for others. QuArK can be a little tricky to set up, but it works pretty nicely and the build console is very useful and streamlined. I recommend using QuArK version 6.5 alpha 8 for Quake 2 mapping, since they changed a few things in the newest release that don't help us. Here are some links that will get you started using QuArK. here are the best qbsp, qvis and qrad build utilities that I've found: dervish.tastyspleen.net/files/buildutils.ziphere is the link to the download site for QuArk: sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1181the url to the actual download seems to be too long for the forum link code to handle so here it is: http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=1181&use_mirror=easynews&filename=quark-win32-6.5.0alpha8.exe&69700273 (just copy and paste into your browser) here's the QuArk website: quark.planetquake.gamespy.com/and here's a short setup tutorial I wrote for Quark (version 6.5 alpha 8) to get you from installing all the way through compiling your first map with it: dervish.tastyspleen.net/files/Quark%20setup.pdfThis wont fix your Quoole problems, but it will help you make a working map!

Everyone likes another editor and you'll have to find the one that suits you best on your own. As I do lots of q3 mapping, I'm using GTKradiant but I assume that other editors also provide you with the possibilty to generate and load a point file for your map. When you load it up, a thick red line originates from the first entity you placed in your map and goes out of your map through the leak and into the void. Simply follow the red line in the 3D-view window to find the leak. Note that detail brushes should NOT be used for the outer hull of your map, they will produce a leak if you do use them for the outer hull (view-> filter -> details in radiant to be sure). The error on loading the .prt-file (a portal file for calculating bsp-tree and the potential view set) may occur when you missed compiling VIS on your map. Also be sure to place the file colourmap.pcs into the '<your-quake2-dir>/baseq2/pics/' folder.
