===== You awaken to the sound of alarms. Your buddy brought you out of stasis in time to witness his death at the controls. You fight off the remaining sentries but the damage is done and you crash down on a nearby planet. An old newskool forest tribe finds you and you awaken at their area.
It seems they weren't the only ones looking to the skies and that night a group of bandits attack and make off with a valuable piece of equipment. After retrieving it you learn that the local tech-guy is building a small, low level ship and as you progress through the game, you recover more parts. ===== I have the ending pretty much planned out and as you can see, the beginning aswell. The problem is the middle. Between the bandits and the final confrontation (in a mountain), what kinds of 'quests' could our hero partake as filler, as well as to develop the story further?
Technology is current, Quake2. The zone is mountains and forest, and the good guys are by a lake. The tribe is aware of current technology but chooses not to use it, except the tech-guy/inventor kid.

Anybody? I'm being serious here - I really want a story other than aliens and counterstrike.
