I have 2 rooms connected by an open hallway. The second is bigger and both have sky. The problem is that you can see into the second room from the first via the sky, how do I block this?

Really a stab in the dark here, but maybe try a hint brush at the top where the sky is, in both areas...might work but haven't tried it myself...I know what you mean though, and it seems like a big bug that hasn't been addressed yet.

the point is, in this sky bug you see from the second room only what the engine can see . it does not really look through the sky brushes, it just draws what is visible through the conventional geometry, so if you vis-block the second room from the first there will be nothing visible. therefore you gotta add an architectural feature in the corridor which blocks visibility between the two rooms, an additional turn for example or a donut passage. wrapping the areas into hintbrushes from the outside is something I never got to work for some reasons, but this way will for sure.

yup. I agree with mr. zyx on this one. On occasion I've gotten it to stop by placing a brush between the areas I could see through, but outside of the actual map area, but it doesn't always work, whereas blocking the vis and putting the nodraw flag on all your skies seems to work every time.

I think I've heard of the Hint method before but Nodraw you say? Because the first area has sky but where it connects to the second is from an underground tunnel and a door. I'm having seemingly random results with Area Portals so I think I may have to simply lower the second (higher) room and connect them with an extra tunnel system.

I fixed it with a Hint brush inside the skybox ceiling . - Mike
