is there any Quake II tool that grabs only the textures, sounds etc you need for your map and places them in a pak file or directory structure (like pk3man for Quake 3 Arena or q2wmap -pak for Quake2World)?
I've got a directory with many textures but used only a few of them...

Marics said he has a tool the does that.
The nice thing with using QuArk is the it put all the textures for the map you are building in the tmpQuArK folder.
But what I always do.
I run a dedicated server on F:/ hard drive and connect with a client on G:/ drive.
Then I know that I have all the custom textures.

I saw that post and already googled for that tool, but I couldn't find it.
QuArk sounds like a solution but I'm really into radiant and I'm on linux -- looks like there's no QuArk for linux. I could boot windows and install it (had to do that for Wally anyway) and use it to compile the map I guess -- sounds complicated though.
The idea with the server is ok too, but it's not as convenient as it could be. Thought there had to be an easier way...
Thanks for your suggestions, X7!

YAY! I finally found it residing on an old machine that was collecting dust in the shop...
I'll email it to you Spirit, its called 'Map File Gatherer' and works like a charm on all but the (don't hold me to this) the sound files.
If you'd mirror that too, I'm sure the lads here will appreciate it. I really need to get a host again.

Thanks, it's mirrored at airrocket.net (direct link, 300kb). I wrote a bash shell script that does the same for linux users before I saw your post (textures only atm, but that's really the major part of the work!), it can be found here (direct link) or at my website under stuff/tools.

SkiesOfBordom is making a similar tool for his maplist generator.

Really strange that such a useful and basic tool hasn't been around and widely used for Quake II. I expected that pak or q2map would be able to do that.
