Just wanted to throw this Q out there and find out - with pictures of course - as to what the most complex piece you've all made is. I love seeing a room that's complex and tough looking.
I myself would have to say the most complex I've made is the central room in my DM map that I put up a month or so ago, as to me that just screams quality and complexity, but also has awesome flow too, IMO anyway.
So yeah, put up pics of the most complex archtecture you've made. Not judging anyone, and anyone with any amount of skill is welcome to do this. I just wanna see how all your creative minds work.

perhaps not the most complex piece, but the most "epic" one. would like to have the drive to finish this.

This roundchurch took me forever to build and even turned out with a flaw in the roof, which you can see only in a specific angle. img152.imageshack.us/img152/6533/Iam a stalkerscreenqg5.gif[/IMG] -W1

You should finish it zyx!!! Go awwwn! Wixen that looks complex! I've tried to use Tread myself, but am loving Radiant too much to convert. I would like Radiant to have better Vertex manipulation though. If I used a later/newer version I'd have it, but 1.47 is the best for Quake 2 and is more challenging to use. Keep them pics comin!

Re: Wixen1 I remember you posting progress shots for that map! Did you ever get it finished? The most complex thing I ever made was Ghen's Lab from Myst2: Riven, well the frame of it. It took about 10 minutes to compile and accidentally fit the reference image perfectly. The second was a scale version of the Highwind airship from Final Fantasy 7, Q2 couldn't even show half of it at once . - Mike

That's cool Mike. I tried once to make the Saturn V - the rocket that took man to the moon - in Quake 2... ...Yeah it sucked because the max_view_distance was way overcooked and you couldn't see half the rocket when looking up at it from the base

the zfar of most Q2 engines would still disallow seeing the entire thing.. as long as it's not past the boundary it's still releasable -Paril

if you set r_skydistance to 16.000 you can look across the whole available worldspace.

if you set r_skydistance to 16.000 you can look across the whole available worldspace. in that specific port, we're talking about any engine here. Compatibility is key. -Paril

Says the guy who's making an EGL-only deathmatch mod. Compatibility is pointless. The game is 10+ years old. It's not like those structures were meant to be deathmatch levels in the first place, either.

This, and modifying the opengl-renderer so that you can see further in maps is not really a break of compatibility anywhere.

Right. I think he was saying that a lot of people are still running 3.20 clients. That may or may not be the case, but either way, I wouldn't let that stop me from building something. Requiring a certain engine port is not the worst thing in the world. And if no one is paying you to build your levels, build whatever the hell makes you happy.
