Thanks for the kind words.
The "new" sound is still there but I won't know just how much I will have actually acquired until early April, that's when they yank all the packing and goop out.
It's amazing how much "easier" this time has been...sure, there's pain and aches and all that but since they didn't repeat the admitted "errors" from the last time, well now, it's hard to complain much.

Are you Strogg now? Can we call you Cain? You can call me Cain but I've found that the years have found me slower and more busted...if what they did was a Stoggification, well now...I guess it didn't work as well as I'd hoped.

Final (more or less) "update"...
I can hear, I can hear, praise GOD almighty I can hear!
I went in for the final post-op visit, they removed the exterior packing, vacuumed the canal out and gave me a hearing test. They're reluctant to put percentages on gain and such but realistically (I twisted the audiologists arm, she's a lot nicer than the doc) the improvement is tremendous.
She said it comes down to a comparison, such as, before the first surgery I would "miss" about 90-95% of sound and more specifically, human speech. After that first surgery, I was 100% deaf (this again is the left side only). Now, post-everything, I am "missing" only an approximate 30% of sound, once again specifically human speech and that is based on a noisy environment.
So, you can kind of do the math...
1 - Pre-diagnosis, I had a killer tumor, no ear drum to protect my middle and inner ear and about 5-10% capacity/ability to hear with my left ear.
2 - Post surgery 1, the tumor was gone, the rotten bone was removed, a new ear drum was installed and I was completely deaf on the left side...but most importantly, healthy.
3 - Post surgery 2, I CAN FREAKING HEAR IN REAL STEREO FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER 30 YEARS and realistically it works out to be about 70% of normal.
4 - The doc is certain that it will continue to improve as the inner packing is dissolved and absorbed by my system AND as I re-learn to understand what my ear is communicating to my pea-sized-brain...I have to learn how to hear with two ears again.
My wife's voice, music, nature, everything never sounded so good, praise GOD!
Thanks for listening...pun intended.

Thanks lads! It's all been positive and to say the least strange. I keep getting freaked out by directional (stereo) stuff.
